Behind the Blog & The Trail Journey
Especially Ultra started as a raw, unfiltered training log and race journal to document what it actually takes to line up for mountain ultras. Back in 2006, I made the questionable decision to jump straight into Fjällräven Classic (110 km across the Lapland fells) with zero endurance background—just heavy strength training in the gym. My friend and I blew up spectacularly, limping across the line after 29 hours convinced we would never run another step.
Nine years later, I returned to those same trails to win the Swedish Alpine Ultra sub-12. Along the way came a sub-3 marathon in Stockholm, grueling 100-milers, the technical granite ridgelines of Corsica's GR20, and running in the top 50 at UTMB and Angeles Crest 100 in the California heat. For me, running isn't about sterile data or counting grams—it's about finding that steady rhythm on the trails, building bulletproof aerobic endurance, and discovering what's on the other side when your mind and legs want to shut down.
